    Work on The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center inpatient tower is nearing 90% complete as crews have turned over the first floor to fit-up, and are now installing furniture, medical equipment, technology, signage and art.

    As more than 800 crew members make their way onto the construction site each morning, the Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital construction is nearly 80% complete.     The 1.9 million-square-foot inpatient tower is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State with up to 820 beds in private-room settings to elevate patient-centered care, safety and training for the next generation of health care providers.

  • In the News: A look inside Ohio State's inpatient hospital tower

    The Columbus Dispatch recently toured the Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital construction site. The $1.9 billion hospital is 75% through its construction phase, project manager Ragan Fallang told the outlet. It is expected to open in the spring of 2026.

    The outlet cites that the new tower is built with enough steel to erect two Eiffel Towers and quoted Dr. Andrew Thomas, chief clinical officer and senior associate vice president for health sciences, as saying that the hospital tower is "a feat of engineering."

    As highlighted by Columbus Business First, The inpatient hospital is 70% complete with construction. 

    "Despite inflation, close collaboration and transparency between that huge crew, contractors, administrators and leadership has kept construction on budget and on time for an early 2026 opening," said Kristin Poldemann, associate vice president for Facilities Design and Construction.
