College Road construction this summer and fall will significantly change traffic patterns, reroute CABS and affect access to the Ohio Union Garages.
Beginning June 15 and continuing through December 2026, sections of College Road will alternate between northbound-only traffic and full closures, with changing sidewalk access. CABS will be rerouted to High Street. Access to the Ohio Union North and South Garages will remain available, but routes to the garages will change depending on the phase. Detour signage will be posted and travel delays are anticipated.
Phasing start dates may change depending on conditions. Updates will be posted online throughout the project.
The College Road closure supports roadway improvements, including repaving and curve adjustments east of The Oval to improve traffic flow. This section will also be redesigned to complement nearby Oval materials and aesthetics. Sidewalks will be expanded to 10 feet wide to create a more comfortable pedestrian experience. During the closure, crews will also complete utility upgrades, including replacing waterlines and improving tunnel infrastructure.
Phase 1: June 15 - Late July, College Road Northbound Only
- College Road northbound only between Hagerty Drive and Annie and John Glenn Avenue
- Ohio Union North and South Garages Access:
- Use 12th Avenue to northbound College Road or High Street
- Reduced garage entrance and exit lanes at College Road
- College Road east sidewalk closed
- Construction zones shift north to south during this phase
- The CABS Campus Connector (CC) route will be detoured to southbound High Street. A temporary stop will be available on 12th Avenue south of Ohio Union. Stillman Hall and Ohio Union southbound stops will be closed.
Phase 2A: Late July - Mid-September, College Road Closed in Both Directions
- College Road closed in both directions between 12th Avenue and Hagerty Drive
- Ohio Union North and South Garages Access:
- From the north, via southbound College Road or High Street
- Area sidewalk closures will occur. One side will remain open while the other is closed and detour signage will be posted.
- CABS routes will be detoured to High Street. Temporary stops will be available for southbound traffic at High Street and 15th Avenue as well as on 12th Avenue south of Ohio Union. The Arps Hall stop will also remain open for the East Residential route.
Phase 2B: Mid-September - Late-September, College Road Northbound Only
- College Road northbound only between Hagerty Drive and Annie and John Glenn Avenue
- Ohio Union North and South Garages Access:
- Use 12th Avene to northbound College Road or High Street
- College Road west sidewalk closed
- CABS routes will be detoured to High Street. Temporary stops will be available for southbound traffic at High Street and 15th Avenue as well as on 12th Avenue south of Ohio Union. The Arps Hall stop will also remain open for the East Residential route.
Phase 3: Late-September - Late December, College Road Closed in Both Directions
- College Road closed in both directions between Page Hall and Annie and John Glenn Avenue
- Ohio Union North and South Garages Access:
- Use 12th Avenue to northbound College Road or High Street
- Area sidewalk closures will occur. One side will remain open while the other is closed and detour signage will be posted.
- CABS routes will be detoured to High Street. Temporary stops will be available for southbound traffic at High Street and 15th Avenue as well as on 12th Avenue south of Ohio Union. The Arps Hall stop will also remain open for the East Residential route.
